WHAT WILL YOUR PRIORITY BE IN 2018?

Have you ever thought you could be more productive if only you had the time?
Carl Sandberg once said, “Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”
The general rule of thumb is that you can’t increase time, and it passes, whether you want it to or not. What you can do is prioritize!

And that, right there, is the key ingredient.
Everyone I have ever met has managed to make time for something that they REALLY want because it was a priority for them to spend more time with their family or it was a priority for them to make x amount of money or it was a priority for them to go on a dream vacation to Bali.
Whatever the dream, it was a priority, and they made it happen!
What I like to do is jot down my three big dreams in any given year. A wonderful friend of mine and business owner recently told me about the power of three, and I couldn’t agree more. Three is seen all over the place if you look for it. Triangles, three. Third planet from the sun, earth. Goldilocks and the three bears. Three. It is powerful because as humans we like choices but not too many choices. Just think about the number of different brands of foods at the grocery store, daunting right?
And so, I like to use three.
As we move into 2018, many people have resolutions, but I would like to suggest making goals that encompass the priorities in your life. What do you want this year? How do you want to feel? How do you want others around you to feel? What will make you happy and ultimately, what will get your ass in gear and motivate you? Asking the right questions will get you the answers you seek.
Life is short, prioritize and live the life you have always wanted to live.

  1. Love this idea of the Power of 3. Recently I’ve used it as a guideline for my ToDo list. No more than 3 things on my list. Things still get done and it leaves me time for my art.
Keeping to 3 means we don’t overwhelm ourselves with choices but we still have options.
    Great suggestion, Laura.
